The countries that have installed and developed telethons for the multiple discipline assistance of people with disabilities have implemented since March 2017 a system  that centralizes all the information that come from the rehabilitation Centers belonging to the organization which will contribute to evaluate, direct and perfectionate the assistance strategies focussed on the rehabilitation, habilitation and social inclusion and also to foster scientific research in this field of medicine starting from new evidence.

This project, called System of Information of Disability (SIDRO), has been created by the International Organization of Telethons (ORITEL), entity which is integrated by Telethon Foundation from 12 countries in the three Americas: Chile, The United States, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

SIDRO allows the prompt collecting, management and analysis of all the information arising from the Centers, Rehabilitation Units and Therapy Support Units (CIUS) that form part of the ORITEL Net.

MEANING OF SIDRO

The SIDRO is built on a technological platform that guarantees in real time a synchronized functioning of two subsystems.

SIDRO allows the prompt collecting, management and analysis of all the information arising from the Centers, Rehabilitation Units and Therapy Support Units (CIUS) that form part of the ORITEL Net.

The first subsystem consists on a Data Base where the countries incorporate Epidemiology information, Assistance Infrastructure information and the one proceeding from a number of predetermined management indicators which are able among other incidences to measure for example interventions results and medical and technical staff efficient.

The second subsystem which is nourished by the first one is called SIDRO Statistical Center (CES) and it visualizes the dashboards, graphics and other behavior coordinates that will be the object of systematic measurement and following.  As a result of the up to date Data the CES has the possibility to design situational, comparative predictable reports concerning each country and whole net.

The aim consists on the access to precise and objective information in the field of disability not only to the countries that form part of the ORITEL net but also to all the states and Civil organizations in the continent in their designing of assistance strategies, imparting of knowledge, fostering and protection on this subject. The information system will incorporate the data of more 340.000 users of the net.

The access to information generated by SIDRO for public and private agents will become an important contribution in the development of public policies to favor the inclusion of people with disabilities .

BUILDING THE SIDRO

The SIDRO project is the result of  team work and of agreements achieved during the ORITEL Medical Summits.

The SIDRO started to come true from origination and posterior study of three Data bases:

* Epidemiological

* Characteristics of the Centers, Institutes and Assistance Units of the Net.

* Technological infrastructure used in the net

The development of the SIDRO technological platform and the permanent support for its proper functioning is in charge of the Neocort (information technologies company), whose expertise is in the development and implementing of Business intelligence and Big Data.

SIDRO SECOND PHASE

During the VII Summit of Medical Directors that will be held in September in El Salvador, the bases to begin implementing the second phase of the SIDRO project will be discussed.

For this more ambitious stage, ORITEL will receive a vanguard technological support from part of Microsoft . The suite of products and licenses will be awarded by Microsoft as a donation throughout a collaboration that will on growing according to the requirements of the SIDRO.
